Shot Reverse Shot Practice- Creative Task

What have I learnt?
Before we tried filming our own opening scene, we needed to practice several techniques such as the 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot. We were faced with a few issues, particularly the audio. When we began to edit the video we realised speaking was poorly picked up by the phone we used. Further, we needed to leave longer spaces between conversation  as we ended up talking over each other. This made it tough to edit and affected the final outcome. Next time I would check the footage straight after filming incase another take needs to be done so the conditions are the same. Another issue we encountered was the camera changing focus on the speaker. This again made the video look unprofessional and poorly made. When I create my own sequence I will use a proper camera, not a phone, as they make the video look more realistic and will focus on the characters more accurately. Our biggest problem was that we filmed the whole sequence in portrait originally which is never done in real productions. However, there were many positives as we used iMovie for the first time and succeed when editing a basic clip. The last shot is almost seamless which we are very happy with.
